On A Scale From 1 -10

I find this interesting because a 10 rating to me means MUST have. 0 would mean a waste of money and would never ever put one on my tank.

I ranked my calcium reactor n 8 because i have a buy schedule and dont have time to bother with dosing. I prob did my tank more harm than good from inaccurately dosing. Now i set it and forget it.

6 Can live with or without it, if you keep up with water changes and dose a little a day using two part you'll be fine. alk = baking soda, CaCl = dow flake, damp rid, etc.
8 having an actual reactor is better but you can also just throw it in a bag and put it in a filter or something
2 Good to use if you your tank is diseased already and you need to clean it out, but unecessary for day to day purposes.

Oh and there is a caveat, if you use ozone without carbon, do not dose using newer dow flake you may cause the bromine to turn into toxic bromate. That would elevate the calcium reactor to a 10.
