Was topping off my sons tank (15 gal) and I just stuck the open line from my ro/di in the tank and forgot it. Came home and the tank is fine only dropped from 1.023-1.020 but when I turned on my kitchen light it didnt go on.

I turning it off and looked up and saw the water stain on the ceiling. Took the dome off the light and it was filled to the brim with water, probably a gallon of water was in there!!!

The light bulbs are still dripping, what should I do? Just wait for it to dry over night replace the bulbs and go from there?

Dont want a house fire!

It's reasons like that that I use a rubbermade garbage can to fill up with water, plus it's on my porch, so if it over flows the concrete gets a little wet and that's it.

I use an old salt bucket with a lid and float valve for my other tank and a liter meter pulls from the bucket to top off my tank.

This 15 gal is on my sons dresser, now he has wet cloths lol. Anyway I should just tee off my ro line to his room and add a small bucket with a float valve he could use for top off.

I put the line in the tank, which was like an inch and a half low, went to my room to do some stuff figuring after my stuff was done I would reconnect the RO line (its connected with a john guest coupler) and of course I finished my stuff and told my son to clean his room. He was up there for a while and was like Dad my tnak is overflowing by the way. I reconnected the RO line, cleaned up the mess, tested his salinity and went to the LFS...

Came home to discover the light in the kitchen. Arggg....I probably have saltwater eating away at my old crappy wiring.....
