opinion on refugium

In my 40 gal, the sump has a section to put chaeto and live rock.

My question is should I close down my 10 gal refugium and move my cheato and LR to my sump? Or is the extra water volume good for the tank and worth it to keep?

The reason I'm asking is because I'm running 4 pumps and the humming is kind of annoying. It takes two pumps to run the fuge in my system, and eliminating the two will definately quiet things down.

Chances are even if you shut off pump to the fuge, you still hear quite a bit of the hum.

Try stopping the fuge pumps for a couple hours before going to sleep. If you really liked it, I don't see why not.

BTW, you got room by the sump to fit the 10G fuge?

the ruge sits in the cabinet below the tank. the sump is built within the tank. I hope that makes sense. :?
