You know their big bulky rubber black plugs? What do you do to get the frag off it?

Last time i got one the frag encrusted over the top of the plug so i couldn't clip the bottom of the coral without losing growth. So i dremeled the plug and ended up breaking the frag anyway.

Why do they torture people?

Ideas?

the trick is pliers.

squeeze the fat part with pliers and the frag falls right off....Even the really thin encrusted part comes off clean. Lay a folded towel underneath before you start squeezing to give it a soft landing when it falls off.

no shears...just squeeze w/ some pressure.

the thick part of the plug is hollow so when u squeeze it the frag falls right off.

If you do cut them off using cutters and they are encrusted..DO NOT THROW THE PLUG AWAY!!! Put it somewhere in your tank and let the encrusting part grow another coral.
