damn Herman, your smokin!

I wonder if someone was using my network?

I am with optimumonline with cablevision. With cable you are always sharing the bandwidth. The more people use the net in your area, the slower the connection. Cable is still damn fast.

I am on a wireless network at home and when doing the test I was in the yard. I installed an accesspoint out there also.

If you are suspecting someone using your bandwidth, you should log on to your wireless router. If you are using linksys type 192.168.1.1 and if you are using Belkin type 192.168.2.1. I believe the default passwords are admin. check your guide. Then click on DHCP. Here you will find a list of all computers logged on to your network.

If there are other computers there are several ways for you to go. One is to encrypt your connection, the other is to configure your router so the offender will always be redirected to a site of your choice. Some grannytranny site is always a nasty one. The third is to get mallicious. Send me a PM if that is what you want to do.

I agree, cable speed depends on the amount of users are connected to the network. So the speed test for cable does not really give you an accurate reading.

Jhal encrypt your network, it is very easy to do. If you require help, I can come by and set it up for you :D

thanks guys, I do have it encrypted. there are four of us using it though, so someone else could have been on it, that's what I meant.
