Hey Guys,

Once again thanks in advance for your help. Well here's my latest dilemma. I have three peppermint shrimps that have gone rogue and attacking my galxia coral. Well I tried the old half bottle trap and I was able to trap 2 of the 3 little buggers. Now the third one just won?t take the bait. I?ve baited the trap with krill, mysis shrimp, sinking pellets and even spirulina brine shrimp. I?m at my wits end and I don?t want to take my rock work apart, just to catch this pain. Any advice you guys could give will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for taking the time to help
Frank

I would not feed for a day or two, then try to catch again

The lack of food may make the shrimp attack the coral more, but I would bet he will be so hungry that he will go into the trap.

Good luck

a good old trigger or puffer would do the trick! lol. what i found with peppermint shrimp seeing i had 9 in my 72 gallon that a broke down a few days ago was that when they were sitting on a peice of live rock ( usually a 5-10 pound peice, nothing small) i was actually able to lift the rock up slowly and they did not move. i was able to completely lift the rock up and out of the water with the peppermint shrimp on the top of the rock, dropped them into a bucket. give that a shot. i did not think it would work but i was shocked how easy it was. worked 7 out of the 9 i have. the cleaner shrimp were a different story getting them out lol. good luck!

A Marine Betta will take care of pretty much any Ornamental shrimp you have. You can PM me im trying to sell it for 70$ but you can borrow it if you need.

Not feeding for a couple days will work then use a pellet food like formula 2 and the shrimp will not be able to resist. Mine are the hungriest little buggers and pretty easy to catch. With the rock trick, get someone to hold a net under the rock as you pick it out of the water and usually they drop right off into the net. I have moved my 3 peppermint shrimp now 3 times and they are in a FOWLR tank now. They stole food from the corals when we spot fed and also became a problem in the reef tanks.

A marine beta is a lot safer to get rid of them from a Reef than a trigger I think and probably easier to catch as well. Good idea there. Betas are also a lot more fun to watch feed. :)
