Do you know if all tanks and stands are included in either sale ?

last year it was only up to 55 gal. & some places charged you tax on the full price.

i think only 20-55gallons qualify. we'll have to see if corner, hex, or cube tanks qualify but at cursory glance, it appears no

As I recall it was only up to 55 g's. Some of the stores did give a hard time about including the Oceanic cube, but it technically was included in the sale, because it rang up at the sale price. I do not believe the hex/corner/bow tanks were included.
I paid tax on the full price though I remember someone here on MR posting that you could get the sales tax money refunded to you if you filled out a special form..maybe they will chime back in or you can look on the thread from last year about the sale.

I called the NYS Dept of Taxation & Finance. They said that Petco was doing nothing illegal, providing that they were paying the collected tax to the state of NY. They said I could file form AU-11 Application for Credit or Refund of Sales or Use Tax.

I can't answer that. I spoke to their corporate office and they say their legal department advised them to do it that way. Believe me, I had the argument in the store, then on the phone with corporate. I found it wasn't worth the effort to pursue it with them any more. I went to the NYS Dept of Taxation and they are the ones that told me they can charge whatever they want. As long as they pay the same amount to the tax dept. Then the tax people said I can submit the form listed above for a refund which I did and they promptly sent me a check.

PITA, yes. Resolved, yes.
