Actually.. I tested the PH with one of those API tests and compared it to my Pinpoint and it was pretty close so the battery going low was giving me high readings. It looks to be working normal with the new battery.

Yeah, mine was showing high ~8.40-8.50 when the battery was drained. Swapping the battey put it back in the right range of 8.23-8.27.

I guess it's time I clean the probe and recalibrate anyway. BTW It's a pinpoint.

After calibrating with 7 and 10 I allways dip the probe back in the 7 or 10 solution to make sure its calibrated correct..just dont calibrate then drop in your tank make sure its reading correct..its what I do.

it's okay to expose it air, you just don't want to leave it out for it to dry. Use soft toothrush as kathy already stated and just gently brush off any gunk that might have accumulated, rinse in water and dunk in back into the fuge (or wherever your probe is)

you are actually supposed to go back and forth couple of times making sure that it reads exactly. Just don't forget to rinse the probe in distilled water between going between solutions or there is just no point in calibrating.
