Hi,

I posted pics of the equipment I got with my tank, they are in the My Gallery page, if anyone can help me figure out what they are and how to hook them all up :arg:

Gonna work on cleaning them all today and see how they come apart and hopefully figure out what size hoses and stuff I need.

i dont see much of the stuff that came with the setup to be much desired...

first thing i would do is get the tank drilled....those overflow boxes can be disasterious.....i used 1 on my old setup and it lost siphon on me a few times....caused my tank to overflow...
then i would plan for better equipment.....possibly have one of our vendors here build you a new sump......better pumps, better skimmer, and you would need to figure out your lighting.....you can keep the current setup with some MH or go T5 HO....it will depend on what kind of livestock your looking to keep long term.

take your time....dont rush it and get everything together first.

This is gonna sound dumb ... but ... get the tank drilled ? Put holes where and where would I look to get it drilled at .. a glass company ? What size holes? Since the tank is huge transporting it anywhere would be difficult.

I plan on putting rocks, sand, fish in first, then adding corals, anemone's, and whatever else later. I am going slow because I want to get this right. I'm leak testing the tank now so I have time to figure out what I should do next.

The set up came with 2-250w 14k metal halides and 2- 54w T5 HO actinic lights.

I set the tank up directly above a large empty area in my basement, not too far away from the water supply and on a hard wood floor so I can drill through for whatever plumbing needs to be ran. The basement floor is concrete, level and heated. All I need are suggestions as to what is best since I've never done this before.

I found an RO/DI unit I'd like to buy, since I've seen lots of people say that will be the best thing to do.

House of Fish might be able to help with drilling the tank for you. Find someone that is close to you that has a set up and go take a look at it so you can get a better idea of what works best.

auto is right. best thing is make the tank "reef ready" which is a term where u drill holes on the bottom or side to create an internal overflow.
and then get a bigger sump.
heres a pic (holes drill on bottom)for better understanding(courtesy of dursostandpipes):
