New Reefer
These sprouted in my tank a few months ago and have been growing quite well. They are from 1/2" to 1" tall and are mainly on this one rock but others are scattered throughout the tank. Any idea what they are? Thanks.

It's Fuzzy Tip algae, or more properly, Neomeris sp. Ornamentally attractive, but not particularly efficient in exporting nutrients (and absorbs calcium that you might want your coral to be absorbing). Unlikely to be useful as food for herbivores either.

BTW, I think you could say it was both plant and algae.

Neomeris annulata

Will probably disspaear and possibly re-appear over time depending on nutrient levels in your tank.
