Well another day on the reef and another situation I have yet to experience in my 4+yrs of being in this hobby. Have to admit I never housed this type of coral before .. I think technically its called a Fungia (short tentacle ) ...

Well this morning (since the plate coral is smack dab right in the middle of my tank's sandbed) I noticed some hermit legs sticking out from the center of the corals mouth ... is this normal? Its interesting to know if this coral is related in anyway to the anenome family because i never heard of any hard corals eating inverts :splitspin

On the funny side i thought of two things, 1. You can see in the pic most of the other hermits are huddled around it - are they mourning the death of one of there own or did they all come together for some kind of ritual sacrifice thing last night  Anyway i know the pics aren't that great but if you look closely i swear you can see the little legs still there in the mouth ..
Within 5 mins they were fully ingested! :irked:

Happy Friday!
