Hi, Race! I followed the thread where you posted your new collaboration with Target. I am watching for your products there. I do buy a lot of Dog and bird supplies!

I am wondering if you would consider assisting us in obtaining captive breed or net penned fish for our reef tanks? We have been discussing the impact our hobby has on our worlds oceans and some of us have given up our hobby because of this impact. I know that there are many breeders in our hobby. Could your company help us?

Hey! You're right! Too cool!

I also have another cool idea I was thinking some large company might consider. In the Salt Lake valley, we live on an old sea bed. We have tons of terrestrial rock that we have had tested and it is aragonite based. I can find the test results if this idea isn't shot down! I have tons of it in my tanks, and it grows coraline wonderfully. It is very porous and looks just like the live rock I bought to seed it with. Would LiveAquaria or Drs Foster and Smith consider making this rock available to others?

Another thing that I think would benefit the hobby wonderfully is if some company could help us get live cultures for our CB breeding endeavors in our homes. Right now, our choices are very limited and some are very cost prohibitive. Could Live Aquaria help us in this area?

Thanks for reading, Rich!

What kind of live cultures? They offer copepods time to time.

FWIW< the production of live feeds is quite costly. The prices seen in this industry and aquaculture are fairly inline with production costs. Running a 40 acre farm that uses over 80 kilowats continually with 20 employees is quite costly to say the least.

Can I direct your attention to http://liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Dis ... CatId=2565

Dry is cheaper, your right, but this is cultured none the less.

As Gresham said live feeds are expensive. You can get starter cultures and then culture them yourself rather inexpensively though. The best place IMO to go for info on culturing and for connecting with hobbyist's who can either provide you with starter organisms or at least point you to retail sources is seahorse.org. Since sh folks tend to be more into captive breeding than most other hobbyists.
