Hello

Would you please ID the algea in the pictures. May I use ultralife red slime remover for this algea. I am dealing with this since 3 weeks. No success. The sps frags are badly affected. I must find a solution. Note that I know the reason why red slime algea appeared. I addeed 10ml chopped shrimps etc 3 weeks ago. My water quality is good. I use rowaphos and my t5's are new.

The sps frags are badly affected.......... My water quality is good.

These two statements completely contradict each other.

If your water quality was good, the SPS would be thriving and there wouldnt be any algeas(or much algea) or cyano in your tank. If you have cyano (red slime) its likely caused from a build up of DOC's in the water column due to over feeding or lack of skimming. More WC's, less feeding, and better skimming is the long term cure for it.. If its red slime like youve stated, manual removal by siphoning is a far better way than adding a bacteria killer. Bacterial killers kill good bacterias as well as the red slime your trying to remove.

FWIW, I have plenty of algeas and cyano in my system. The SPS are not really affected at all. Keep your water clean and you parameters stable for long term SPS success.

As I mentioned above I know why there is a breakout of algea. I added 10 ml of chopped shrimps etc soup. I also added mg too much to 1500ppm. So there is a breakout of algea. Would you please id if this is cyano bacteria.

Its impossible to give you a 100% ID from the two posted pictures. If I had to guess, yes, its cyano
