You just need to prime the pump. Fill it up with water, put it back, and turn it on... unless you are doing something different...

No that is it. I read some other post but they were not to detailed on how much water was needed.

Just some more detail. The pump will be pulling water directly from the tank to the sea swirl.

hi.
OK... you just need to fill the space from the tank to the pump's impeller housing with water, and you can call it primed.

If the water does not start right away (30 seconds), turn everything off, and *UNPLUG* the pump, and check to make sure all the air space from the tank (intake) to the impeller housing is fully filled with water.

Going to run a closed loop to a sea swirl with Mag7. Once I set the PVC how do I prime it? I was thinking of using a cap that I can seal after its primed? Any thoughts?
