My store was contacted last week via a TTY operator about purchasing a large quantity of glass aquariums. We moved the conversation to email to hammer out details. As the conversation progressed we were asked to ship another aquarium to a charity in Dallas, TX. The "recommended shipper" wants Western Union payment to Ghana for the shipping from AZ to TX and the amount is certainly not reasonable.

I just thought that I would put this out there in case these guys are making the rounds.

They usually want some Levi's and Nike shoes sent someplace as well  First time I've heard of them hitting up for glass tanks though.

We had a rather strange email inquiring about officials from Nigeria wanting to come to MACNA XIX. It had all the feeling of one of those money transfer scams.

Not surprised.....

I have seen many "fish suppliers" asking for payments up front for fish they don't have. These scam artists have found price lists from other suppliers and make them look they have a legitimate business with good pricing.

They just take your money and you never hear from them again.

Bottom line....Ask for references and make sure they are solid...don't get duped!

Best regards...
