Power Head in a Refugium?

I just put a power head in my refugium. At times I have had some cyano growing in the fuge. By increasing the flow, I'm hoping to prevent its growth. Anyone else have any success with doing this? I have chateomorpha growing to absorb nutrients and just added a deep sand bed this week as well.

What I did in my sump was make a spray bar out of pvc. It is about 18" long and I angle it a little down and it does a nice job of slowly tumbling the chaeto....I found that the power head was to much directional flow for my chaeto...
