I have a 90 gallon tank. I used red slime remover from ultra life. I used all the recommended amounts for my 90 gallon. All the algae died and I siphoned it out of the tank. I then did a water change. I checked my water the next day and I noticed that I know have amonia at 2.0ppm nitrites are at around 5.0ppm nitrates is at 10 and PH is at 7.8. I have changed about 40% of the water over three days to try to bring down the ammonia levels but to no help. Does anyone have any suggestions. My fish look ok. My bubble tip anenomie is ok he keeps shriveling up in to a ball and moving around. I am going nuts knowing their is ammonia in the tank and nitrites specially since i will be going away for 5 days. I need help what can I do? Anyone else have this problem with ULTRA LIFE red slime remover.

First I would check your test kits as if you're doing water changes the ammonia should atleast come down some what. Also your fish and anemome would have been effected by the ammonia and nitrites.

I never used Red Slime Remover but it should work like Chemi-Clean, in that case it shouldn't cause any problem in your tank. It's possible that you either had a large amount of red slime that die and/or some thing else in the tank died. This may have been more than the tank could handle and caused a mini-cycle in the tank.

How long has the tank been setup for and what do you have in it.

I've never used Red Slime Remover either but I have used Chemi-clean. When chemi-clean kills the cyano it dissolves, there's literally nothing left to siphon away only to skim away.

April! Sounds like a combination of new tank syndrome and possible overstock/overfeeding. Your three angels are going to start a turf war soon, your tangs may as well. Your damsels are certainly going to start a turf war with whomever they can.

Some snails may help with your algae but may be eaten by your crabs.

actually the only fish in a turf war right now. are the three clowns. All the other fish are very peachful. I watch them all day and they dont even nip at one another. I just dont want any of them to die. By the way if anyone is looking for two false clowns I am willing to give them to anyone. If you live in manhatten I will bring them to you. I dont want them to die. They are getting picked on massively by my other two false clowns. So if you want two false clowns Just post up. they will be free.

remove the blue balls. Remember blue balls are never a good thing :)
The balls increase either nitrites or nitrates in your tank. don't remember which it is.
The best test kits for the money are salifert.
Do you dose bi-ionic or kalk water?
Do you do water changes? how often? how much? what salt?
You need a skimmer. If money is a problem I would recommend the ASM G2 or G3.

Its a fish only tank. What do you mean remove the blue balls? I thought the blue balls in the filter are where the bactiria that eats the nitrites are. I will look into a skimmer. But can someone explain what a skimmer does. I have no live rock in the tank only fish.

As a general rule in the sea, fish will fight with any other fish that looks like it does. I've heard it guessed that fish figure any other fish that looks like it does must eat the same thing and live in the same places, thus it is a competitor. (Sounds reasonable to me :) ). Keeping fish that compete for the same food or niche will end in death unless you have lots of room for them to have their own separate territory. Damsels are very scrappy fish and get worse as they get older/bigger also your mileage may very but keeping more then one angel in a tank is asking for war.

Anemones are very difficult to keep. They need very stable parameters and very strong lighting or they don't make it in captivity. They also have a tendancy to walk around in search of the "best" spot in your tank. If you plan on adding other corals down the line keep in mind that your anemone may sting them to death on one of it's strolls.

I would recomend a Big skimmer on a tank such as yours. Your Aneomone needs clean water and your fish will produce a lot of waste. Also most people on here recomend taking the "Bio balls" (the blue ones) out of the sump (perhaps you can put a skimmer in there?) Bio Balls end up being nitrate factories down the road.

I was told it is ok to have a dwarf angel and a regular angel in the tank. I have also never seen them even scrap or touch each other in the tank. Is this true? Im new to this so i need to ask lots of questions.

I'd read up on the Fish Only or the Fish Only With Live Rock (FOWLR) setup FAQs on wetwebmedia. That'll fill in some of the blanks on jargon and what equipment does, as well as what equipment you'll need.
