protein skimmer help

ok here is the newbie question. do u turn off your pump (thats connected to the skimmer) when u clean your collection cup or do u leave the pump on? anyway thanku all

I leave my skimmer pump on. I only turn off the feeding pump. I have an ASM G3 with the recirculation modification.

I turn mine off cause the bubbles used to go everywhere. I used to have the g3 with the recirc mod too.

I leave my pump on when I clean the cup. But I have a Remora skimmer, the cup right on top of it. Very easy to do maintanence...

I leave my pump on and close the ball valve completely. I have a mag 5 that tends to not restart when I turn it off though.

I turn off the two recirculating needlewheel eheims on my 702 when I clean the pot and also when I feed the tank.

i turn it off. the reason why i asked is because when i turn it back on it feels like the skimmer has to build up all over again so thanku all for the help
