Protien skimmer

I am having a beef with my protien skimmer. It is a brand new Berlin skimmer. I rinsed it really good before I used it. It worked well for a few days and not working. It is doing what is is supposed to be doing in the bottom, but no bubbles in the top. I opened the valve wide up and still no froth. I did have this problem the first time I started it, but it went away after an hour. Well, I waited 24 hours this time, and still no more bubbles. What am I doing wrong?

I've read on the forums that anything that reduces the surface tension in the water can cause this. Oils from our hands, and some food. I am sure someone more versed than me will chime in, but that is what I read.

If I'm wrong, chalk it up to my post count and noobness

Is there anybody that knows anything that can help? Skimmer still isn't working...
