I'm setting up a 65 Gal tank with a Lifereef sump.
The sump has a pump that sits in the sump.
I would prefer an external pump like the Iwaki.
My question is:
I beleive I read that external pumps were not good for suction.
Meaning that I could not mount the pump above the sump to draw water up but would have to drill the side of the sump to have the water run into the pump and then it would pump it up to the tank.
Am I correct?
Or are their differnt types of pumps for specific applications?

There two different types of pumps.
RLT pumps are for pressure applications. RLXT pumps are for circulation and wet/dry return.
I'm not sure which one is best for my application.
