Hello Folks;
Quick question. Tomorrow I am getting rid of two problem fish. My local shop has agreed to take them. I have a beautiful Melanarus Wrasse that continuously murders my clean up crews. I also have a Coral Beauty that has become quite the bully, and has all of the sudden started nipping at my corals.
In their place, I want to simultaneously introduce a small Powder Blue Tang and a small Desjardini Sailfin Tang. They are both approximately 2" long. Do you think this will be an issue? I plan on putting them in my quarantine tank for 3-4 weeks, then introducing them together in to my DT. FYI, my DT is a 120 gallon mixed reef with plenty of live rock. My tank is 14 months old.
Thank you.

Shouldn't be a problem. I have a sailfish, a scopas tang and a Naso tang all in a 90 gal reef. They all get along. The sailfish and scopas went in together. I think the problems come in when the body type is very similar. I also think color has a lot to do with it. Sounds to me like you should have no problems.

Adding at the same time is recommended from what I've heard. Of course I dont listen anyway and added a second tang to my tank a year later. They get along fine (Atlatic blue and powder brown tangs...both are suspects in 2 previous, seperate and unrelated tank homicides). I think personality has a lot to do with it in general. I also make new fish additions af any species after lights out. I feel it gives them time to get comfortable with their new surroundings unmolested by existing residents. Good luck.

I'm planning on doing it tonight. Been busy. Hope it works. All I need is a two liter coke bottle and some fishing line, correct?

Yes, as well as some food!;) Don't be discouraged if you don't catch them the first night. It took me quite some time to catch my yellow coris. What worked with that little monster was a Hakari silverside.
Also, if you use small size food you need to put it in something like a nylon sack (stocking) so that it doesn't end up in the tank. Then rubberband it to a small piece of rock to keep it sunked.
If you don't catch them the first night remove the food, but leave the bottle in the tank so the fish become more comfortable with it.;)

Good advice. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Anyone else have any advice on catching two fish that are so skittish, they're scared of their own shadow.
