putty over palys

i didnt want to mess with the palys and take them out and risk getting sick.these are the nasty palys.i covered them with putty so i wanted to know how many days should i leave the putty over the palys before i know there dead.

I have fresh carbon going.i only puttied over 10 palys.im doing it slow
