I was reading about pairing Strombiops Nematodes (high fin shrimp goby) with Alpheus Randalli (pistol shrimp with red stripes).
The article recommended using PVC to create an artificial burrow, covering your artificial burrow with sand and leaving an entrance. Then, after acclimating, putting the shrimp in a container and flipping it so the shrimp goes into your fake burrow. Then doing the same with the fish.
Has anyone done this? Any ideas on what size PVC would be good?
I like this idea because I can control where the burrow entrance is. I was thinking of using 1/2 inch PVC, making a T structure, capping the two back ends of the T and then using a 45 degree elbow to angle the front end up so there is an entrance. Then I would put rock and sand over it and leave the entrance open. This would give an extensive artificial burrow with lots of room and two back chambers.
Should I go with larger PVC than 1/2 inch?
Should I introduce the shrimp first or the fish first?
