In the past when I have introduced fish to my tank I have given them a freshwater dip at least 3/4 of that water was the other is water from my tank. Can anyone tell me if this is you do for invertabrates also.(stars, crabs and shrimps)? Any help is appreciated.

A fish water dip isn't going to do anything, you need to do a fresh water bath of anywhere from 20 - 30 minutes, just make sure the Ph is over 8.0. Instead of fish water dips or bathes it's better to QT the fish before you place it into the tank.

As for inverts, except for Hermits crabs most will die if you place them in fresh water. You should actually dip them into your tank with the dip going on for a # of hours before you place them into your tank.
