question about t5's

i have a tek t5 6 bulb with 4 11k bulbs an 2 actinic plus bulbs
its a 75gallon tank
my question is whats the average height the light should be of the tank ....????

As close as possible but watch that it doesn't get splashed. The endcaps are not water proof.

Sunlight Supply offers acrylic shields to protect the endcaps. The shields are offered as a full cover or short ones that just cover the endcaps so as not to block the light emitted from the bulbs. Anybody who sells the fixtures should be able to get the shields.

i have the sheild but i wanna know how many inches of the tank the light should be ......keep in mind i do plan on keepin some sps in the tank

Then keep your lights as close to the top of the tank as you safely can. I used to keep my TEK light about 3" above the water. When I lost all my sps I decided to raise my fixture. I now keep it about 7" above the water. I have LPS and softies, no more sps :sad2:
