quick uv ster. pump question

hey i just got the coralife turbo twist 36w uv. i have an old mag drive 5. that be good? i know u dont want too much water to flow fast enough but i figure the uv is huge sooo.... you think the mag 5 is ok?

waaaay too big.. how many gallons is your setup? u should run it under 200gph.. the longer the water column is exposed to the light the better and more efficient it works

oh.. prob still the same unless your just doin it to control the algea then you can prob raise it up a lil bit... theres a site that tells you the gph for the volume of water and the proppor flow rates for either algea control or for parasites.. but i still think the slower the better!!!!

well its also going to be the pump....then 4 foot hose....then uv. i dont know how to compare it with the head pressure or whatever

i dont know how well itll work for you inline.. the pump pressure inline will stay the same thru the 4ft hose as long as its at the same height..

how about a pump that says 242gph. would that work? i dont know brand, just found it. use to use it on a reactor

a reactor?? not talking abt a uv anymore?? what type of reactor?

no no the pump that was around 242gph used to be used for an old reactor i had. i was saying would that pump that does 242gph be ok for the UV.

yep.. just put a ball valve inline so you can adjust it down a lil if needed
