Rare appearance of my star in front of tank...

This is the only animal i had trouble acclimating. He started to shed his arms and i thought i was going to lose him. I refused to pull him and i'm glad i didn't...he is recovering very well and fast as you can see in the photos. Most people, not here, told me he was a goner when they start shedding arms and to pull him out.

normally they are nocturnal feeders..if your seeing yours out in the daylight moving around it's a sure sign that it is hungry also if you see it's arms waving in the current from the rockwork is another sign of hunger....losing it's arms is a sign of stress...glad to see it's recovering they do grow back. I would target feed it at least two or three times a week with any meaty foods until it fully recovers and then after once a week is good...I have mine for close to 15 years and received alot of excellent advice over the years from a member on RC who is an expert on these guys...

thats a good sign hunting at night, but I would still give it some food to help it recover ..they are excellant scavengers..good luck with it.

thanks, i feed him chunks of shrimp and silversides to the point his body turns into lumps and all shapes...lol, he's a big boy, his disc is a 1 inch in length and 1/2 inch in girth, he needs actual food at this point. When i feed him he wraps around my tongs until he eats all the food. Cool animal...
