REALLLLY basic question

always had HOT equipment so im not sure about this one.

Is a bulkhead just a way to connect things to the outside of the aquarium? I mean its just a fitting that goes on both sides of the glass to watertight your connection right?

yeah basically. Bulkheads are threaded to allow you screw all the way to the surface to allow water to flow through without leaking from the container, unlike tapered PVC threads which are meant to keep water from leaking out of the pipes.

Yep,

You just have to make sure they are on right, the hole is small/big enough, and the bulkhead is not too tight or too loose. All really easy to do.

Of course, most places sell "aquarium" bulkheads for ridiculous prices. (I get mine off ebay)
