Not all wrasses require a sand bed to sleep under, so these guys might be a good option for you :)
Some build their own sleeping cocoon (ok, a mucus sac, but cocoon sounds so much better!), so that may be a goof choice for you.

Before you even consider adding any wrasse, having a cover (that is weighed down in some way) is an absolute requirement!! I have 2 fairly large chunks of LR that sit on my overflows..they weigh down the cover and keep that small gap closed between the tank & the overflow edge..not attractive, but effective :)

This is an informative article you might want to take a look at:

If you do chose to add a sand 'bed' (lol) , a finer grade sand is the standard.

What's you idea or sand den?
Thirty there is a guy on another forum I don't care for (the forum) that makes these ceramic Wrasse dens. I know you can use manny things but I liked the look of these and appreciate people who make a hand made product.
I ordered one to check it out.

I'll post a pic of mine when I get it as they are all different but this will give you the idea. This is a bunch piled up out of the kiln.

Nice to meet you the other day...I would use a fine sand for smaller wrasses, but it can be blown around with flow or med course like Special grade which is what I use which is suitable for most sand dwelling wrasses...any other larger grain sands may hurt them when they burrow....
