Found this growing on my sun coral. Started overtaking one of the polyps so I took it out to remove it. Thought they would be soft but when I pulled them off, they were hard and fibrous and kind of plastic feeling like chaeto. Any idea what this is? It doesn't appear anywhere else in my tank.

Thanks in advance!

You need to reduce the excess nutrients in your tank by doing more frequent water changes, running carbon & GFO (ideally in reactors) , not overfeeding the tank and keeping macros in your fuge so that they use the nutirents before they can be used by the algae in your DT.
As you do those things, just keep pulling that algae out of there manually and once you have the excess nutrients in check it will stop growing.

For red slime I would suggest the Clemiclean Red Slime treatment - but DO follow the directions on the package carefully and make sure to provide extra oxygen to the tank before & during treatment.
