Went away for the weekend and I come home to this? I saw a small patch before I left but now it's getting bad... Any quick solution? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1422235306.817694.jpg

I would much rather not use any chemicals

Looks like cyano bacteria I had the same issue, I did a 20 gallon water change In my 90 gal. And siphoned out what I could...it kept coming back. While in the middle of fighting the problem my maxspect gyre was on its way, once I hooked it up to my tank it literally eliminated all my dead spots. With the gyre running at 30% and my lights off for two days the cyano was gone. Make sure you have substantial flow and water movement. Also keeping the lights off a few days helps a lot. Good Luck

I would love a gyre but they're expensive and I cant control them from my apex!!! Any suggestions for better water movement? I have 2 koralias in my 90 but was thinking of upgrading to something more powerful that I can control with my apex. Any suggestions for placement?

We'll the gyre is expensive there talking about releasing a smart controller upgrade that's controllable by the apex or reef keeper.. Other then that how about an mp40 they just lowered the price to 299.99. Here's my issue with mp40s or and power head that throws a cone shape of water movement in on direction.. That movement is unnatural unless you have two which leads to spending more money. The gyre replaced two mp40 pumps in my tank! I was so surprised at the water flow and it's not even on full power. My sand bed is so clean even behind the rocks it's crazy. But I do understand that you spent all this money on the apex and now you want everything to be in tune, hopefully they release that controller for us.

I was dosing special blend

Alex you should also try raising your magnesium levels to 1,500 slowly. This should help eliminate the cyano, this only works with Kent marine Tech M Magnesium. IMO a little bit of everything helps. GOOD flow, water changes, less hours of lighting, high mag levels all these combine will tackle your problem.

I'm trying ultra life red slime remover to see how that works... I'm leaving on vacation soon so I need a quick solution. I'll make sure all my levels are right as well but I'm just trying this to see if it works
