ok so if its not because any of the above then why is it doing this? (how long has this skimmer been running in this tank with no problem)

What is the actual level its sitting in? is the level fluctuating during the day?

do you have corals that might be spawning and driving your skimmer crazy?

Try to run it in 6 inches of water

Sorry, but with all due respect, how do you know what skimmer he has and why to run it with 6 inches of water?

I have SRO 8000XP and it requires a 10 inches in water.

This person does not state his water volume or his skimmer model so how do we conduce it to be in 6 inch of water??

sunny why do you think i ask the questions i do :sigh:

Because we are a community and I know we are on the same side :) We help each other as a community.

I mean the OP does not mention his water volume or his skimmer model. All I see is that people start giving him advise based on nothing.

Reef octopus makes 20 different skimmers with different settings. If we do not know which skimmer and setup stats we taking about how can we state facts???

I believe we are here to help. If we do not ask right questions we cannot offer right answers.

P.S ==> Not saying that you did not ask more or less what I asked, Tony :)

ill try lifting the skimmer somehow tomorrow and put something under it.. noticed when i lift the skimmer up a bit it stops overflowing..

thanks guys

You are still not answering the basic questions.

What skimmer model do you have? What is your water volume? How old is the system? How high is your sump assuming it is a INSUMP model..

I have the same skimmer. The recommendation for this skimmers depth was 6" - 7.75" I had it running at 6" and could get some skimmate with lowering the flow way down, but lowered my stand to just under 7" and it was much easier to dial it in. Took a few days to get it right where I wanted it after changing the depth. Just be patient and make small changes.

Sunny is 100% right what I should have asked is how much water is it in now than give my opinion but I did because 6 inch is the minimum any skimmer would need to run. I won't post while I drive anymore
