I had one bucket of reefcrystals that was 9.8 dkh with a salifert test kit and now I have a bucket that is 12.6 dkh . Both test were done 24 hours after the salt and water were mixed but the lower dkh was mixed with RO the higher dkh was with RO/DI
Whats with that?

Try mixing the salt up and retest..I've heard some buckets of some salts need to be mixed so that the different additives are evenly distributed throughout the bucket.

I have gotten in the habit lately of testing my new water when I get a new bucket of salt..you just never know...
But, I do know it's best to always stir up any new bucket of salt..you may still be ok with your bucket Manny!:)

The very reason I switched salts. They have had consistancy issues for a while now. It's all over Reefcentral and other reef sites I frequent.
When the very few sticks in my tank were being affected I switched. I now use Red Sea Pro Salt.
