Reefer gate valve mod kits

Is anyone interested in red Sea reefer gate valve mod kits ? The kit would allow you to add a threaded gate valve directly under the stock valve so you don't have to worry about the connection at the bulk head. If for any reason there's a problem with your gate valve it would be easily replaceable and if for some reason you're not happy with the way the gate valve functions you could just open it up all the way and continue using the stock valve. Below is a pic of mine.. kits would be about 32$ plus shipping and would come with everything you need. Parts are on order and I will have them soon

Pms are full. How does your gate attach to the stock plumbing? Do you just run the stock valve wide open?

You would cut the pvc a few inches below the stock valve and glue the assembly directly to it. The gate valve itself is threaded on both ends so it's replaceable but the upper part of the assembly above the gate valve gets glued.

Yes you would then run the stock valve full open And adjust the gate valve as needed.

In my case and many others the gate valve has completely solves the issue if constant adjustments

Unfortunately no but there are ways of doing it using a combination of metric Red Sea connectors, a standard male adapter, and a lot of Teflon tape to make up the size difference but I would not recommend it. It's worked for some people but personally I like to know things fit together properly and have little to no chance of coming apart or leaking

Another reason I like this set up is that I can get my gate valve adjusted perfectly and if I want to close off the overflow for some reason I can use the stock red Sea valve to do that. So during water changes when I turn off my pump I can keep the water from draining down to my sump without having to re adjust the drain valve.
Just have to remember to open it back up again when you turn your pump back on
