Remora Bubbles...

Getting ready for the big move. Moving contents of 20- and 29-gallon tanks into a 55. Had to stick with a 55 because of floor weight. Got 50 lbs. of LR and the tank is fully cycled. I have a canister filter (hang on) but no media...just use it for water circulation and a couple of powerheads. Today, I put on the Remora Pro skimmer with a Mag 3 and it's not only loud, but spouting out tons of bubbles. I HATE those bubbles. Is there a fix for that? I've never used a Remora so don't have any experience. I'll be moving from the other tanks next week and I don't want anyone dying of bubble inhalation or going deaf from the skimmer noise!

if the pump is loud and spitting bubbles i think you have air bubbles trapped in it. remove the pump and shake it around upside down. i think that should fix the problem.

remora has a bubble catcher you can buy too. i think they call it a filter box and it will skim the surface and remove bubbles. i like the surface skimming feature

This is the first time you have run the Remora Pro?

They take a while to break in. Mine took about 2 weeks before I noticed that it wasn't putting tons of bubbles in the outflow. I never bought the skimmer attachment because I kept procrastinating and then the bubbles stopped.

Now, the noise, the only thing I came up with for that is to put it in my sump cabinet.

This Remora is used...I have a great friend that runs the fish store where I shop. When he changed the location of his store, he had some leftovers, and the Remora Pro was one of them. He gave me a great deal on it and had it thoroughly cleaned and in good order. The Mag 3 is new, however. The Remora had been on a 90-gallon for about a year...I do think the bubbles are getting to be less....I'll just give it some time, and turn up the volume on the tv...lol

A couple more things, if its a hissing noise, then its the skimmer, any other kind of noise could be the pump.

Also, if you go to www.proteinskimmer.com and ask them questions they are extremely helpful. Nicest company I have ever purchased anything from.
