remora (not pro) skimmer with mag 7 pump?

hey has anyone tried a remora with the mag 7 pump? i have the regular version, not the pro on a 75 gallon. im currently using a mj1200. and i have the cup set the lowest and i get about a half cup full per week.. If i get a mag 7 then push up the cup would i get a more drier skimmate vs the wet that im getting now? Please let me know an answer quick..
