Rimless tank cover

Hello All,
Quick question, I have small shallow reef 24x24x18 and it's been running for one year
And I think I can start introducing small nano fish to this setup.
Before I start shopping for mesh and plastic brackets, can someone recomend mesh size that works...
I see there is 1/4", 1/16" etc
Also clear or black

BRS sells good mesh or some Lowes have a clear bird netting. Not sure the exact size but its smaller then 1/4".

I know the argument to cover or not to cover can be greatly debated here...but do you really need one?

Past 2 tanks haven't been covered and neither had a problem with anything jumping out.

Just saying why go through the trouble if you don't have to...

Thanks, I'm not sure how deep was your tank, but 18" is not much...(?)
You walk to shallow tank, fish may freak out and jump ... just speculating I hope it's not true

The clear 1/4 from brs works great. I would suggest you build a lid. Its not a question of will the fish jump is a question of when.

Go to Home Depot get a window screen kit and in Garden area get bird netting

Wrasses are notorious jumpers/carpet surfers. I got a mesh cover made by Artfully Acrylic and they do a great job (but they are pricey).

+1 i love my artfully acrylic top. It doesn't matter the fish. If they get frightened they will jump.
