RO/DI Units...Need the right one for me

Hello,
I am looking for suggestions on a decent RO/DI unit for my 90 gallon soon-to-be reef tank. I would need about 1 gallon of top-off a day so was thinking of goin wiht a 50gpd unit. I foun this one at Air Water Ice: http://www.airwaterice.com/product/1MMDI/Mighty_Mite_50GPD_with_DI_Added.html

I know nothing about plumbing or how these units hook up. Would I need to do major plumbing or does this simply attach to my facet?

Any tips/ponters are appreciated.

That's a small slow rodi. I would get the Typhoon III 100GPD.
You can use a simple faucet if you wish.

OK, thanks for the help. Even if I dont need 100 gpd I should get a big RO/DI unit? I guess its because when I want to make some top-off water it makes it faster corrct?

It says that system makes 20-50 gallons per day. IME the performance is always towards the slow side. Do you have any idea how slow 20 gallons in 24 hours is? I'd rather watch paint dry . If you are going to hook it up to the faucet you will want to be there when it's running so you don't overfill a reservoir etc..

Don't forget you will be making larger amounts of water for water changes. I also like the clear housings on the bigger unit so you can see how dirty each stage gets and see color changing resin. With a 90 gal I would definitely get the 100gpd.

I got the mighty mite and its GREAT. I only have a 28 gallon tank but its perfect for me

I have the typhoon 3- 75 GPD and it seems slow @ 75GPD. Think About Filling A 90 Gal Tank, It would take a long time. You may also run into some catesrophic problem and need to change 60 gallons of water over a short period of time. Things like that make people quit this hobby when its inconvienient to remedy a problem. JMO

Chef, never thought of that. Makes sense...I think I am gonna go with the 75gpd model too. As for installing your typhoon was it complicated to hook up under the sink or no? I am good with tools but am terrible with plumbing and electricity (i guess that only leaves carpentry that I am good at)

They give you a faucet adapter which makes life a lot easier. But you won't be able to keep a topped off resevoir unless you dedicate the sink to that. The way I make sure i can do water changes in emergency situations is to have a 50 gallon brute trash container filler with saltwater at all times. So I have the water on hand, and don't need to quickly make the water.

Thats a good idea . I am going to get one of those rubbermaid containers at some point. As for the faucet hook up. That is the what i went with also. The only problem i did have with that was that little plastic adapter thingy, (technical lingo, I KNOW) but i just went to home depot and matched it up with a metal one and it worked out much better.

Oh yeah it's also wise to get a psi gauge if you get the typhoon III. I didn't know my apartment had some extra strong water pressure and I blew out my membrane.

I just got the Mighty Might, Its all set up and ready to go. I want a to make a batch of water tonight. I dont have a PSI gauge, how high should i turn the water on? I dont want to damage the system.. or have it take too long to make 3 gallons...
