Did I read somewhere that you can reverse the flow through a RO membrane to clean it out? Mine is so bad that I get only about 40 PSI now. Normally it's 90-100 PSI.

if not, are the ones sold at home depot worth anything? I need one ASAP.

Have not heard of reverse flow on the membrane but flushing the membrane, I've heard of. What is the PSI of the water pressure going into the unit?

I don't notice a change in water pressure in the house. Don't have a gauge to test house pressure. the guage on the unit is now under 40 psi. The unit is about two years old and I have never replaced the RO membrane. I make about 50 gallons a week.

When was the last time you changed all the filters? If you're getting low pressure, it's dropped from what it was, it's probably due to the filters being clogged. Change all of them and see if the pressure increases.

Changed them all last week thinking it was that. I think the carbon filter was bad because there is a lot of black residue in the canister that holds the RO membrane.

40 psi isn't that bad but 90 -100 though sounds kind a of high. I would expect a drop off in the psi during the winter. It's also very possible the membrane is shot, what is the ppm coming out of it?

Nothing is comming out now and the PSI is down to almost nothing.

If you're not getting anything coming out, and you've changed all the other filters, I would also change the membrane.

+1 on the membrane also I used the home depot GE brand. as long as you read 0ppm
you should be fine. do you own a TDS meter because this tells you when to change the filters and membrane? I run my filters untill I don't see zero ppm

+1 on the membrane also I used the home depot GE brand. as long as you read 0ppm

No. 80+ PSI out of the fauct.

Thats great pressure out of the faucet. Have you taken it apart and looked for any blockages? Depending on how "dirty" your tap water is, you can some times get a blockage. That may be a reason that it dropped off so much. check it b4 you buy a new one. I like to use those things until they are completely done.
