RODI and return pump question

Does the water temp affect the flow of the RO filter? I use cold water, should I use luke warm? My RO filter is very slow And does anyone have a return pump that I can buy? I need it to syphon in/out the water when I am doing changes?

My RODI filter has always been really slow even when I have recently changed the filters. I have heard that lukewarm water will make the filter work faster but I have seen no discernible difference when I have tried it.

yes, usually the water temp has to be in the 70's , what you can do is place like 25 feet of tube (the one feeding the filter) in a small bucket with warm water, that should bring the temperature a little higher.
Do you have a pressure gauge?? you might not have the desired pressure for your unit.
go to your LFS and get a small one for about $10

How do you keep the water in the bucket warm for hours??

Get a PSI clock meter thingie and start using warmer water. Your PSI should be reading around 50 depending on the rating of your RO/DI for it to work efficiently. 65-70 or so PSI for the larger GPD RO/DI's.

BTW, when your getting low return on your RO/DI it also means your making more waste water so i would get it taken care of soon.

You should see an increase in gallons per day from just going cold to warm, like 5-10 gallons. Your going to see a bigger difference in the amount of waste your making. Also how old is your membrane and are you changing that out as well.

Everything was replaced in January. I will pick up that gauge, use warmer water. I happen to notice more waste water coming out. I will def use warmer water. For cali reef I did keep it in a bucket when I started out with a heater and pump for a few hours before I put into tank.

Get a booster pump and that will solve your problem

yeap, just a heater at 70 degrees. plus im talking about a small bucket about 6-10 inch diamerter, something that you leave where your unit is located. maybe a picture would do better latter on to explain what I say.

You may have to do some crazy math, but I don't think the cost to run a heater in a bucket in order to heat the water will be cheaper than the extra water wasted. A better solution is to move the RO\DI closer to your hot water heater or wrap some of the 1/4 line around the hot water heater pipe..
