Ok this is the question,

I was in home depot and I strolled down the water puri. lsle and I found the cleaner pads for the rido for home use. I have a kent 4 stage rodi and I was wondering if the pads they use for the 1 stage cleaning process are the same pads we use in the rodi for the tank. If so do you know how cheep they are, also can the carbon be used as well. I was thinking considering we drink the water that those pads are used for so they should be good for reef keeping and water puri. process right.

All advice and opions are welcome. Happy reefing:splitspin

I do not see why they would not work. I would check the packaging to see if they identify the rejection rate of chlorines, heavy metals, etc. The cartridges that I use claim to remove 97-99% of the impurities we do not want in our tank. If the cartridges at HD remove the same percentages then I do not see a problem. Of course, as yourbedormine18 mentioned, there may be cheaper alternatives.

Every RO unit I've seen is a mix of sediment filter and carbon filters pre-RO. My last batch of filters were from air water ice and went sediment->carbon->carbon. so as long as the filter is the right size you should be fine using the Home Depot/Lowes/Hardware store versions.
