Well we are moving forward with the tank. Got a plant to camouflage the plumbing.

Tank is filling slowly.

Debating on the cutover procedure. I need to add more LR to the new tank as I only have ~ 30lbs currently. I was originally planning on just moving everything over (fish, corals, LR, water then just adding additional water but I am now scared of adding even cured LR that it will cycle in the new tank.

Tank is running. Still work to do and still have to move contents from the old tank.

Added some new cured LR and sand. Going to watch for a cycle for a few weeks. There may not be much of one since I got all cured LR.

I will say the Octopus is awesome. Its already puling out some skimmate.

So far no signs of a cycle.

Since it was cured LR I may not see a cycle. If still nothing this weekend I may move a piece of LR and a few zoas to the tank to see how things change if at all.

I need to get a glass top made. The tank is evaporating ~1-1.5G a day. I am only planning on having a 10-15G top off reservoir. I am thinking of either a piece of glass that covers most of the tank with a 3 inch piece of glass towards the front on a hinge for feeding or a piece of glass covering most of the top and having just one of the front corners cut out with a hinge for feeding.

I have quieted the sump down but reducing the return pump flow but still may try to insulate the stand some to get it as silent as possible.

The water temp is fine. The tank is just evaporating way too much.

Had to do sort of an emergency tank move from the old tank. Came home and the there was a burning smell. The fans stopped working in the biocube hood - HOT! Cooked the hood a little.

So I tested the new tank and moved everything in.

Clownfish are great. I think I'll get a new one for my 24G. I had one but it jumped.

Looks great Rob.The evap should slow a bit when spring and summer are around with steady 80 degree days. Just watch if you cover the tank that it will cut down on the light's strength.

Leaving it open top for now. The auto top off is running well so that helps too. Currently ~ 1/2-1 g a day now but hopefully will get better soon.

I evap about a gallon a day in the winter. The heat dries the house an increases evap. I cannot wait to see how much less I evap this summer now that I have LEDs and lost the MHs. My guess is the A/C will be enough and I can also lose the fan I use for evaporative cooling.
