What are the differences of Stonogobiops xanthorhinica and Stonogobiops nematodes? do you have any information? i could not distinguish these goby species.
Very similar species. S.nematodes has a more pronounced, black first dorsal spine. S.xanthorhinica has a shorter first spine but a "fuller" looking spiney dorsal fine.
Gender plays a role in the length of the spine, but S.nematodes always has a black first dorsal spine that extends twice as long as the other spines. Males (IIRC) have spines that are even longer.
