I was responding to another thread and I remembered collecting sand dollars off of sand bars in Florida. I noticed that they are one of the few ocean critters that I never see for sale. is there some reason they can't be kept in our tanks?

it's true you don't see them offered for sale too often. You'd need a decent sized sand bed to keep them fed. I think they would decimate a 120 gallon sand bed pretty quick.
then you would have to figure out a way to supplement their food source. I'm not sure they would be the most interesting critter to keep, they stay buried in the sand all the time.
