scrubbing rocks

I have been steadily removing phosphates from my system but would like to remove all of the existing algae off of the current rocks. How bad is it / disrupting is it to remove all of the rocks scrub them in the salt water to remove the algae and put them back into the system.

and also do a 40% water change.

I removed some rocks and just scrubbed them with a toothbrush with tank water in a bucket when I did a water change
