I currently have a Sea Swirl hooked up to a Mag 9 pump in my 120g tank for my primary water movement. I hide the Mag 9 pump (with prefilter sponge) under my liverock in the main tank and it keeps getting clogged with debris. After about a month of smooth operation it just dies because of some clog in the sponge. I've tried putting the pump in my sump and powering the Sea Swirl from there, but then the dual overflows in the tank can't keep up with all the water flow. Is there a better way of keeping a pump in a main tank to power this sea swirl?

Thanks very much,
Nate

I should have been more clear. You're right that the tank has no problem with 1 mag 9. I currently have another mag 9 pump running from the sump to the main tank, T'd off to flow back into the tank via the 2 returns in the overflow boxes. The problem is that the overflows can't handle 2 mag 9 pumps. That flow seems to be too much for the overflows.
