Sebae Anemone questions

Long time no post (threads, at least). Seems like I haven't "talked" to a lot of you in a while. How's everything/everyone doing?

I had a quick question. I picked up a Sebae Anemone from a guy that was breaking down his tank and he wanted me to either sell it or bring it into the fish store when I took it home (I bought his live rock and he didn't have anything left but the rock and the anemone). So, I told him I would. I put the Sebae and the hosting clown in a bucket and brought it home. I have 2 questions:

I have often read about Sebaes being pretty sensitive. The water is a little murky (since the anemone was attached to the bottom of the tank so when he took it out it disturbed the sand a bit and that's the water we used) so would the anemone be ok if I changed at least half of the water out with newly mixed (levels matched) salt water? Maybe all new water? Keep in mind, it's only the anemone, the clown, a heater, and an airstone in the bucket.

Secondly, how long could I keep it in the bucket for? Obviously, without light. I would venture to say 2-3 days would be fine but didn't want to push it.

I would change out a gallon or so per day. With no filtration the ammonia levels will rise(and could possibly be a contributing factor to water cloudyness). Two or three days will be fine as long as the water quaity is OK. You could also put the bucket close to your existing tank so that it gets some light.

Why don't you just keep the anemone and the clown?

Are you giving them to the pet store or are you quarantining them for your tank?

Dan, nice to see you around! Seems like it's been a good while!

See, I have 2 BTAs already. One of them just moved recently and I definitely wouldn't want to deal with the sebae in there (although it is quite beautiful!). I would keep it if I didn't have the 2 BTAs. I even debated getting rid of the BTAs but they're pretty embedded in my rockwork.

The fellow hobbyist I picked it up from couldn't keep it because he had to take his tank down yesterday and had no time to find someone who would keep it. I actually just found a buyer for it and he's a pretty experienced reefer in our club so I'm glad that it's going into good hands.

The water has settled a bit. There is detritus at the bottom of the bucket and a little algae floating around that I wanted to get out. It's in about 2.5 gallons of water right now. Doing a 100% water change would be out of the question then, you think?

You could, but I think doing a gallon would be fine.

The water is murky. I passed it though a filter sock and got all the algae and large particles (sand) out. But it's still dark. I just didn't want to give the guy I sold it to and he can't even see the anemone. I did just message him telling him about it and I think it would be best to leave it as it is until he acclimates it to his tank. Agree?
