Setting up new 150 gal wide

Hi All,

I'm planning to purchase a 150 gal wide(48 x 30 x 25 tall) from Glass Cages for my new apt. What so you all think about this size? I will also need ideas for setups(skimmer, sump, plumbing etc).

Also is anyone on MR good with woodwork. I will also need to build a custom stand and canopy. I will pay for all materials and labor. LMK

I like the depth of the tank, it gives a lot more aquascaping posibilities.

yup, Jonathan is a very good at wood working and design. Just look at this current and past stand.. It look awesome. That is a very good thank, wish I started with that. A lot more coral can go in there now .

How are you? I'm moving to Sunnyside in August. The 150 is 6" deeeper then the 120. The only downside is that it's about $200 more...

I like the depth, but prefer length over depth. Height is awesome as you can get awayy with 250's and keep some LPS at the bottom.

I'm with House I rather have the additional length than the depth. But sometimes your restricted by where you live.

With the 30" you'll be able to place alot of clams and zoo's on the bottom sand.

I would not want a tank less than 24" deep, or 60" long, but it would be cool to have a 48" x 48" cube in the middle of the room with all four sides viewable

okay make it a 72" cube.

You'll need Luminarcs for that 150g/30" depth. The DE & SE pendants will only cover a 24"x24" area. cali-reef has that sized tank and it is awesome in terms of the depth perception when viewed through the front pane.
IMO, I'd go with depth for a reef tank versus length and opposite for a FO or FOWLR tank.

I'm going to keep everything pretty much centered in the tank. Hopefully I can get away with my current lighting(2x250watt and 2x54watt). I just wanted more swimming room for my fish...

Hi Ricky,

The tank, stand and canopy was about $1200. This included 1 overflow and starfire glass. Hope this helps.
