Should I add 3 kessil 350w ???

Ok I have a 220 72"x24"deep x 30" high

Right now I have 2 250w mh giesemann pendants over it one on each side !

I'm thinking of adding 3 kessil 350 w to the tank also
So should I or should I just stick with the 2 mh??

This tank is set up for 2 reasons keep a lot of fish(angels) and sps coral will not keep any softies / lps
Focus being on SPS I wanna be successful with sps long term

If it's just for the LED look maybe a strip LED under the mh hood. If you go with kessils I would think 2 would be good. One on each side.

Samksy has(had) three 350's on a similar size tank and I believe that was not enough light all though the color and shimmer was nice.

If I add will be for the look but I'd also like too cover whole tank and grow sps anywhere I don't have chiller so I can't go with 400 w mh

I have two kessil 350s on my 57.. And they are awesome but your tank is also a lot bigger then mine

I have (3) 350w Kessil on 90 gal SPS tank. I have good growth and color. But your MH will over power than. If you have enough light and you want to add led color maybe strips is way to go. I think paying over $1000 to supplement is expensive way. It will not hurt by adding them. I think the size of your tank and number of Kessil might not be worth it. Unless you get a good price on them and maybe 4 on that size of tank.

I have 2 of the 360we on my 75 and I love the shimmer and color. I have been getting decent encrusting and growth. With that said there is still a decent amount of shadowing on larger colonies. The center where he 2 overlap seem to do the best. If you're going to go this route you may need 4 or possibly 3 centered and 2 on the sides angled back in for overlap. That is if you are looking to replace mh. If looking to add color and shimmer 3 would work perfect. I'm currently working on adding 4 t5's to run with the kessils on my setup.

Matt which Giesemann pendants do you have? Are there T5's? Spacing 3 kessil in this order: K-H-K-H-K can work but it may look strange because the halide appears so much brighter. I would much rather opt for T5 addition. You'll get even spread and can adjust the halide spectrum by blending different T5's.

I'll try and post pics of his I have it now and where I'm considering the kessils
Jackson I'm not sure which pendants they r exactly but I just replaced the bulbs for 2 x 250 w de Phoenix these would be added to the 250 w mh I won't be removing the mh but I want them to do more then just supplement would need them to penetrate 30" down to the lower parts of my rock work!

Problem with t5s is I don't have much room in my canopy that's one the reason I really liked the kessil sm foot print

Ok I messed up I thought you were replacing the MHs with kessils. If looking for color with them I think it could work. Still might be some noticeable gaps with 3 depending how high they are from the water.

I had 2 sols on my old 75 and didn't really like the coverage so I think you'd have a lot of dead spots with just 2

Like I stated that's is a big investment that will be over powered by MH. If you are going to use them at different time I would say yes but mabe 4 Kessil. But at same time it won't pay.

Piran I'm just not sure 2 250w mh can get the job done 30" down so I thought I get the LEDs and use them for actinic (blue ) then few hrs later turn both channels run for few hrs then kick on the mh for 4-5 hrs

My new DIY , will be 168 LEDs ( 12 Ch. by Storm X) 6 " X 60" ( 3 heat sinks of 20 " , 4 ch. per heat sink, 56 leds per heat sink ) i think that will nice , next to MH, just to got more color.
