i picked up some bicolors a few weeks ago.
today the largest of three is very bloated. the internal ribs are visible along its flanks and there is visible fecal matter that should have been passed through by now... it is not white as seen in cyanide poisoning.
the affected fish respires heavily and remains hidden.

i wonder about constipation and if that is likely . i have never knowingly had a previous issue with it.

i do make my own blender mush and i did add nori this last time if that is of any importance.

also it contains krill, mysid, scallops, , silversides, clams, tuna and prawns.

all other tank inhabs appear healthy.

i am waiting here for a chance to snap a pic of it but it rarely comes out of hiding.

TIA

i am terrible at photography.

the first is of the healthy fish which i added just for comparisons sake.

the second is the fish in question, note the ribs and distinct lateral line..

the picture lacks much.. and i wish i could get a good shot without the flash on, but to see the fish in person, the area within the lateral line looks as if it were more transparent than what is seen on the healthier fish. i suspect it has more to it than the simple stretching of the skin.
the affected area has a raised look to it.. almost like.. a gel insert.

that is less than a scientific description but it is the best i can do in limited words.

I say get him into QT ASAP and go ahead and start him on a broad spectrum antibiotic. In my own experience when the fish bloats like this it's often due to a fast-moving bacterial infection. You might also want to lower the specific gravity just a bit (about 1.018 or so) just to relieve the osmotic pressure on the fish's vitals (much like we do for freshwater fishes). Wish I could be of more help, you might want to send an email to the crew at wetwebmedia.

That's too bad, it sounds like it moved very quickly.
